The La Cura winery , owned by Enrico Corsi , is a young and dynamic productive reality consisting of fifteen hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Maremma Toscana Doc and Monteregio di Massa Marittima denomination, located in the upper Maremma Tuscany on the Tyrrhenian coast. The main varieties hosted are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Ansonica, Vermentino, Malvasia, Trebbiano and Chardonnay, for a total annual production of 30 thousand bottles. The company favors an ecological approach to soil and vine cultivation, coordinated by the University of Pisa, which is also its main technical partner.
The first bottles of wine date back to 1999, but it is in 2001 that Merlot La Cura, the "flagship" wine of Enrico Corsi's production, enters the market, immediately capable of being highlighted among the labels of this type, which precisely in the Tuscan coast finds one of its terroirs of excellence. Aged in barriques for a year, it is one of the Merlot with more character in the area. It blends an intense and sunny aromatic profile with a wide and juicy gustatory progression. Merlot was also named the best Merlot in Italy in 2010 at the most important Italian competition dedicated to this specific type, which is held in Aldeno (TN) every year.
Among the recently produced labels is the "Vedetta", which made its debut in the latest edition of Vinitaly. It is a special selection of cabernet sauvignon produced only in the best vintages, a wine also designed for the blind. The heaviness of its bottle is designed to facilitate its handling, it protects against shocks, temperature changes and contact with ultraviolet rays. The label is also written in Braille characters with an attached QR code that provides audio information on the characteristics of the wine and the company.
The project for the blind has been extended to the rest of the La Cura range of wines. However, La Cura is not just wine. The estate, in fact, which historically was dedicated to horticulture, fruit growing and cereal growing, still keeps these productions alive. From over 10 hectares of orchards
it gets fresh fruit, jams and jams, while it produces cereals from the remaining 120 hectares. In addition to this, the La Cura company produces clean electricity, which it uses for its activities, through a 1 MW photovoltaic system, located near the corporate buildings.
