The valleys of the Iblei Mountains, with their bare landscapes, dominated by typically Mediterranean plants, form the background on which stands the Tenute Senia farm, located in the small district of Chiaramonte Gulfi in the province of Ragusa, whose name, in Sicilian " Murtidda ", is due to the spontaneous presence of wild myrtle inside the vegetative bush. The winery is owned by the Nicosia family, which since 1850 has dedicated itself to the cultivation and breeding of the vine. In the beginning it was Biagio, baron and landowner, who decided to plant olive groves and vineyards within the 80 hectares of the property, marketing his products throughout Sicily thanks to the Carriers. Over the years and decades, the estate was divided between the different members of the family, up to today, where since 2000 are the two sisters Angela and Valentina to deal with care and love of the land bequeathed to him as a legacy. There are many innovations introduced in recent years - the winery has been totally renovated, introducing soft presses, modern destemmer and new steel silos - that have led Tenute Senia to be a modern reality from the technological point of view, ready to meet the challenges of a production increasingly in step with the times. Within the vineyards are cultivated the classic Sicilian vines, such as frappato, nero d'Avola, insolia and cricket, which is flanked by a small percentage for the breeding of an international red berry, the syrah. Grapes always treated with the utmost respect, which every year give life to a production of 10 wines, where the reds are imposed numerically, with seven labels, excellent expressions of the aromas and flavors that the Sicilian wines are able to express in the glass
