Poggio al Bosco is a family-run winery since 1960.
The name of the farm is closely linked with the environment. POGGIO in the Tuscan dialect means ‘hill’ and BOSCO in Italian means ‘forest’. Indeed the farm is located upon a hill surrounded by green woods.
A strong passion for vineyard growing, a special attention to traditional winemaking processes and the extremely favorable location of the farm, have given us the opportunity to produce genuine and high quality products, such as wine, extravergin olive oil, and grappa over the last 50 years.
The winemaking tradition has been passed down from generation to generation. After centuries of work in sharecropping, in 1960 the grandparents of the current owners bought the land and built the farm of Poggio al Bosco.
In those years began the first planting of the vineyard, taking care of every single plant and starting to produce high quality products.
The farm, recently expanded thanks to new vineyards, is located in the heart of Chianti, between Florence and Siena.
The soil and its great exposure combinated with the strong passion of the owner, Lorisse, for vineyards growing, his special attention to traditional winemaking and the extremely favorable location of the farm permit to maintain the highest standard production in order to have quality and typical product that keep unchanged the ancient winemaking tradition.
