In the basements of Villa Casalino there is the antique cellar, suitably restored, used by the Galletti Franceschini family for the refinement of the red wines in barrique and oak barrels.
Starting from 2008, together with our oenologist Mariano Pancot, we have established a new wine cellar at the location “Torre” with technological equipment which allows the realisation of transformation from white and red grapes into high quality wines. Our attention is especially focused on still and sparkling white wines; in those wines we have obtained the highest expression of the grape variety of Pignoletto, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Regarding the red wines which gain particular importance in the Riosto territory, there was made an experiment on the autochtonous wine named “Vite del Fantini”.
On these hills leaning towards the tosco-emilian Apennine the origins of wine-growing art is antique and the wines of the Riosto area were renowned already in the papal age.
The Riosto hills, located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, are characterised by sandy and calcareous lands and by a microclimate enhancing the quality and longevity features of its wines. The surface presently covered by vineyards is about 16 hectares but it can be importantly increased in the years coming.
Our DOC vineyards of the Bolognese hills are Pignoletto, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Barbera, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot.
Quality of wines originates in geologic and climate conditions and environment but even more in socio-cultural mentality of the manufacturers and consumers.
Therefore we consider our territory as our principal value.
