The Valeriani family has lived in Palazzo Bandino for 6 generations, passing down the pleasure of producing quality wines and oil from father to son. When the Royals of the House of Savoy came, at the beginning of the century to “attend the thermal waters” and to see the horse show in Chianciano, grandfather Beppe hitched up the Dora to the gig and took the wine to Villa Ramella where they lived. Today the company is run by Gabriele, as agronomist, and by his daughter Marta who deals with public relations.
The main grape is Sangiovese obtained from long clonal selections made in vineyard, the production is about 40,000 bottles, mainly of Chianti Colli Senesi and in recent years of Rosso and Nobile di Montepulciano; the latter ones produced in the Colombelline and Morone farms in Montepulciano. Here, halfway between Montepulciano and Montefollonico, on calcareous soils of alluvial origin with a good percentage of silt and clay, with an optimal exposure to the sun and a breeze that rises from the Val di Chiana, you have the ideal conditions for the cultivation of vine and the possibility of harvesting at the end of October.
