Fattoria Svetoni, founded in the early nineteenth century in Montepulciano as “Leopoldina”, is considered the “ideal” farm. Built from the late 1700s until the mid-1800s and commissioned by Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany, it has been producing wines since 1865. Today the Fattoria Svetoni extends over 36 hectares, 23 hectares of which are vineyards, at an altitude of 300 – 350 meters, above sea level. Here Prugnolo Gentile, a variety of Sangiovese, reveals its maximum potential thanks to good ventilation, temperature range between day and night, excellent exposure, rare late frosts and the few thunderstorms.
