Fattoria La Ripa, belongs to S.A.Santa Brigida and is situated in the heart of the Chianti CLASSICO Black Rooster wine production zone between San Donato in Poggio and Castellina in Chianti on the ancient “Via di Cresta”(Ridge Road)connecting Florence to the “Via Francigena”(the road used by crusaders from Northern Europe going to Brindisi and the Holy Land). In the 1400’s La Ripa was owned by the father of Lisa Gherardini, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and it was Lisa’s dowry for her marriage to Francesco del Giocondo in 1495. The rules of organic farming have been strictly applied at Fattoria La Ripa since 2002 and therefore, as from 2006, the wines, extra virgin olive oil and the other products of the farm are certified organic. At La Ripa Italian, French and English are currently spoken. To get to La Ripa take the Firenze-Siena Freeway (Autopalio) to the exit of San Donato in Poggio and then road 101 in the direction of Castellina in Chianti till km 9,200, when you will see the property’s sign on your left.
