Nero di Troia BIO 2019

Type: Red

The origins of the grape are not certain, but certain is the link with the city of Troy.

From the legend that tells Diomede landed on the Gargano shores bringing this vines, which have found their natural habitat there, to history telling us that Frederick II of Swabia loved to taste of the “full-bodied wine of Troy”, up to the Marquis D’Avalos who purchased the town in 1533, and noted the absolute quality and attitude of the surrounding land, increasing considerably the cultivation of this grape. […]

It’s long been a variety relegated to a secondary role, to strengthen weaker wines with its tough body and color. Only recently it started to receive the proper recognition, because it was shown that making wine with this variety alone, the results are absolutely precious.

Tasting notes: Ruby red colour, with entrancing hints of blackberries, currants, violets and spices.
The taste is full, dry and balsamic. Inebriating.
