The Fabio Contato Lugana bears the name of the founder Walter Contato’s son and is the Estate’s premium quality wine. It ages for some months in 225-liter French oak barriques, followed by 6 more months of bottle-aging.
Produced in extremely limited quantities, it is the result of many years of experience, and seeks to underline the full potential that the wines of Lugana are capable of attaining. In this case, its aging process highlights the evolution of a wine of great structure, obtained from the Estate’s oldest vineyards (with their extremely low yields).
TASTING NOTES
Grape variety: Trebbiano di Lugana
Color: An intense straw color with gold reflections.
Nose: Great complexity and a wide range of perfumes - yellow melon citrus, delicately spiced touches of ginger and cumin. The evolution in the glass offers hints of pearl barley, yellow peach, lavender.
Mouth: Mellow and all-encompassing, the flavors interact perfectly with the acidic vein and the softness, bringing aromas of yellow raspberries and saffron to life.
Pairing: White meat dishes such as oven cooked rabbit or lamb with herbs, foie gras and Alba truffle.
