Retracing the ancient Via Francigena, the route followed by medieval pilgrims heading towards Rome, you reach one of the most unique and unspoiled little towns in the heart of Tuscany, San Gimignano.
It is here - in the midst of vineyards, olive trees and century-old oak trees – that FATTORIA ABBAZIA MONTE OLIVETO lies. The present-day estate owes its name to the Abbey built in 1340 by Olivetan monks, who chose it as an ideal place in which to grow wine grapes and olives. The origins of wine culture here seem to be lost in the mists of time. Indeed, for centuries, the Abbey’s gently sloping vineyards have produced one of the white wines that has been famous ever since ancient times and whose praises have been sung by illustrious poets, Dante Alighieri above all: Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
